MacBook and gaming have had a difficult relationship, and almost all of us are aware of that. And PC fans have played down Mac users solely on the fact that Macs don’t ship with decent games. But this list of top 5 must-have MacBook games will leave a different taste in their mouth.

You don’t have a long list of games you can enjoy on the Mac, but these should do it.

Let’s take a look at some of the finest games you can play on your MacBook!

  1. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty ($20)

A global phenomenon when it was released in 1998, this sequel has carried the legacy on its shoulder with grace. Released in 2010, StarCraft II went on to be claimed as South Korea’s national game given its popularity. This shows how much effort Blizzard may have put into it and really deserve all the praise for it.

The game gives you the option to choose between three factions: Protoss, Zerg, and Terran. If you go with main storyline of the game, you control Terran. However, you still have the option to choose especially when playing multiplayer. If you love micromanaging, this game is designed for you. If you’re also good at multitasking, you should definitely give this game a try. There’s a lot happening all at once and you have to keep track of it all and keep an eye out for resources and enemies, etc. if you wish to survive. For example, you get distracted (or blink unexpectedly) and Zerglings will crash your buildings.

The game is a super-fun and entertaining all-rounder. Download StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty on your Mac and get going.

2. Hearthstone (Free)

Blizzard is no stranger to games that keep you hooked on your mobile devices. But that does not mean that it cannot keep you hooked on your MacBook. While StarCraft was a completely different game, Hearthstone will have you hooked on its simplicity. Yes, you can play your favorite game on your MacBook too.

Hearthstone has simple gameplay to learn because the mechanics are easy-to-learn. Even the playtime is super fast, so basically, you can zip through several fights if you’re up to it. The game makes sure that match equal footing players so the battles are fair and evenly-matched.

And oh, Hearthstone comes from one of Blizzard’s most popular titles; Warcraft. So if you’ve heard of Murloc, you can send an army at your opponent and render them weak before your victory lap.

3. Portal 2 ($19.99)

This is a puzzle game as addictive as can be. You take on the role of Chell, the game’s protagonist and you are also present in an Aperture Science world. You’ll have to use the objects around you and even take advantage of the environment you’re in. While the game is mostly serious, there’s timely comedy to keep things interesting.

Overall, Portal 2 is a game you really should have on your MacBook if you’re into gaming!

4. Minecraft ($26.95)

Minecraft may not seem like a dream game for you at first, but no one can deny that it has gained immense popularity since releasing in 2009. It may even look childish at first given the 2D-3D mashed-up world made up of blocks. As you play the game, you have nothing, but you get the freedom to start building your empire over a large expanse of land.

You can mine for gold and diamond and build a hut if you wish. But you also have to keep an eye out for zombies and other enemies who might destroy your creations. This is one of the most simple games you can play. But on the flip side, it’s one of the most addictive games as well. It’s a pixelated world of 8-bit graphics that won’t appeal to you at first. But once you start playing, it’s really difficult to give it a rest.

So go ahead and start building up an empire for yourself in Minceraft!
